While you are waiting for your new crown to come back from the lab the dentist will put a temporary cap on the tooth to protect it.   Once the new crowns come back from the lab, they are ready to be placed over the teeth, they are cemented with a sturdy dental cement to ensure they will stay in place and be just like the natural teeth of the patient.
